Education and Professional Rugby

I’ve been coaching individuals and groups since 2004, starting with helping the public with health goals and amateur athletes in striving for improved performance in their sport. Through my undergraduate I delved more into performance support which ended up with me supporting more local elite athletes training for European, World and Olympic championships. This took me to a Masters and then working in professional Rugby.

My time in professional Rugby took me out of comfort zone in the gym and weight lifting to exploring, developing and massively expanding my knowledge and ability for Conditioning, Speed and Agility. However after 10 years and with a young family it was time for me to step away from professional sport.

On leaving the professional environment I felt passionately that all the skills I had acquired from could be passed onto amateur athletes. So I spent time with local clubs of which a netball club really thrived with the conditioning, speed and agility coaching. In addition I started working 121 with good local netball, football and hockey players making them feel more confident around the pitch and enjoying their sports more.

Over the years I have honed professional training into programs that amateurs with full time jobs can look to push for the next level and/or parents juggling children on top of full time jobs to be able to perform at the level they want against younger rivals.

This has led to the creation of the Netball S&C program that will improve movement around the court in speed, agility, jump height and strength in competition. Click on the program for more information, or register you email for information on a free introduction to agility.

Safe Training

Safe training is essential for you to reach goals and to enjoy yourself along the way. Here are a few vital points to know when beginning your training:

  • Make sure your trainer is qualified.

  • They should ask your exercise history.

  • You will be asked to complete a PARq

  • If you are not sure about an exercise, ask.

  • Whilst the exercise may make you feel tired and push you it should never be painful.

  • Your trainer should always be insured.
