MEET FRANCIS, AN ACCREDITED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH

Francis has been improving peoples health since 2004. His experience ranges from helping the public with excess body fat loss, muscle building, and even starting fitness. Through to working with professionals competing at the Olympic Games and the highest level of professional Rugby Union.


Francis' knowledge on exercise science has been accrued through an Undergraduate and Masters, giving him the tools to keep up to date on the latest research in how to reach your goals efficiently and effectively. He is also an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach with the UKSCA. This requires continuing education to keep accreditation and to make sure you are getting the latest information and techniques.


Outside of training Francis has competed in a variety of sports. Has played amateur Football and Rugby for local teams, and recreationally goes mountain biking, skiing, and, since moving to Cornwall, surfing. However, his main sporting passion is Judo  in which he currently competes. Francis has represented Cornwall at team championships, won County Championships and medalled at National competitions.

MEET LUCY, A CIRCUITS AND TRAINEE PERSONAL TRAINER

Our newest coach at Fitness And Strength Training is Lucy Stride. Lucy is currently studying to be a Personal Trainer, having already completed the Gym Instruction and Circuits aspects of the course.


Lucy's background is in Textile Design having completed a BA honsat Falmouth University. Whilsts studying at Falmouth Lucy joined the campus gym finding it a great way to impreove her mental and physical wellbeing. This was also a concious choice after she found herself sat at a desk designing all day and needed to move.


Fitness has alwasy been a vital part of Lucy's life from contemporary dance, trampolining and more recently in practicing Yoga for the past 3 years. Lucy will be looking to train as a Yoga instructor once completing her Personal Training qualification.


Lucy aims to mentally support her cleints as they start their fitness journey with her whether they are a beginner or experienced. She has a keen interest in helping those who have lost theri confidence in fitness and going the extra pace to encourage everyone to meet their goal.

Safe training is essential for you to reach goals and to enjoy yourself along the way. Here are a few vital points to know when beginning your training:



  • Make sure your trainer is qualified.


  • They should ask your exercise history.


  • You will be asked to complete a PARq


  • If you are not sure about an exercise, ask.


  • Whilst the exercise may make you feel tired and push you it should never be painful.


  • Your trainer should always be insured.
